Hi, I'm Angalee.
I pride myself in being prompt, clean and super organized. I value efficiency, but like to be thorough and capture all the details. I have a talent of directing a crowd and making things happen, all while keeping a smile on my face. I've invested thousands of hours and dollars into my photography education and equipment, so I'm able to deliver a professional product to my clients. In addition, I have a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Corporate Communications, with an emphasis in Public Relations. My collegiate experience adds to my repertoire of professional skills, helping me know how to discover and understand my clients' goals and needs.
Eleven years ago, I delivered a stillborn baby girl early in my second trimester. Those were the days before everyone had smart phones with cameras, and at that point, I didn't even have a decent point-and-shoot. A friend loaned me her DSLR so I could take some photos in the hospital before we said goodbye. The images weren't anything spectacular because, of course, it's not the camera that makes the image--it's the photographer. But I knew then, that I never wanted to be without the knowledge, ability or gear to be able to capture the important moments. That was the event that propelled me on my journey to becoming a photographer.
A few days after I left the hospital, I walked into Best Buy and purchased my first DSLR. It was a Nikon D90 with a kit lens. From that moment on, I began shooting anything and everything. I started researching and learning everything I could. I watched hundreds of hours of training videos and read dozens of educational blogs. With the help of the internet, a few mentors along the way, and a lot of trial and error, I've learned how to upload photos, create a website, shoot in manual mode, edit in photoshop and use studio lighting. It's been a ton of work, but the only way to improve is by constantly learning and practicing. After I started shooting, I started sharing my work on my family blog. Soon, family, friends and neighbors began reaching out to me, asking me to take their photos. Within the first year, I photographed several children and families, and booked my first wedding--all by word of mouth. Eleven years later, I've upgraded my gear A LOT and fine-tuned my skills. I've photographed hundreds of children and families; dozens of weddings, commercial clients, real estate properties, births and funerals.
Photographers are always telling other photographers to specialize--just focus on one thing and only that one thing--but I truly love it all. Maybe the day will come when I narrow my focus, but for now, I'm pretty much up for anything. So give me a call or drop me a line! I'd love to capture what matters most to you.
